Battle of the Bays is Back!

This Spring, the historic rivalry reignites as Atlantic takes on False Bay in the ultimate interclub showdown. It’s North vs South. Pride, power, and preparation collide across two fast-paced competitions. Points will be tallied, bragging rights are on the line, and one bay will walk away with the trophy. Expect energy, action, and a season-opening spectacle—perfect prep for IRSC athletes and a celebration of lifesaving sport in Cape Town!

Competition Categories: You can only race in one category. 

Category Description
Juniors  Female or Male JLA’s – U15,U16 
Opens Female or Male LA’s – U17, U19, Opens

 

Events Scoring & Points
Board Race The top 16 will score in each race. 


16 points to 1st, 1 point to 16th.

Athletes will score for their Bay. 

Total points will be accumulated at the end of the competition and a trophy will be awarded to the winning Bay.

Registration:

  1. We will be using LiveHeats to record this competition. 
  2. Entries to be done by the Club under the Clubs LiveHeats Profile email.
  3. Entry is R140 pp and clubs will be invoiced after the competition.
  4. U15’s who have moved up to u15 but yet to take the JLA exam may participate as long as they have the Level 3 Award and are enrolled on a JLA Course with your club. 

LiveHeats Bands: Purchase of LiveHeats Wristbands and online registration details to follow via email to the clubs closer to the time.

Event Management:
We’ll set up one Flags arena, Long Run zone and one Ocean Arena. 

We’ll have 1 x IRB and 4 cans set up for the ocean arena. 

Please can clubs bring Gazebo’s to set up shade for athletes.

Notes:

  • Only Competitors with a LA/JLA may compete. 
  • Competitors to wear their club’s skull caps and LSA approved Pink Vests. 
  • All rules as per LSA Competition Manual with relevant amendments. 
  • This programme is a guideline and is subject to changes.
